1. Book Club- We will meet every month on the last Wednesday of every month. Students will decide in small groups which book they wish to read each month.
2. Lego Club meeting- We meet monthly on the first Wednesday to create, build, and teach each other.
3. Creative Writing Club- We meet every Tuesday to write creatively- poems, comics, novels, short stories, any form of creative writing is allowed.
4. Anime Club- We meet the last Friday of every month. Student gather to share their latest sketches and explore various types of anime.
5. Parent Book Club- We meet the second Thursday of most every month. We will start off reading a book called The Teenage Brain by Jensen and Nutt. Each month we will determine what we’ll read for the next month.
6. Parent night- Social Media and Teens- November 9th Our counselors and I will be presenting information about keeping students safe on the internet without having to ban it completely.
7. Brandon Sanderson Author Visit- Sanderson writes Epic Fantasy. His newest book, Oathbringer, is being released November 14th. Sanderson is coming on November 18th to speak to 8th graders about being a professional writer..
8. Mary Robinette Kowal Puppetry Demonstration- December 8th Kowal will be speaking to our Theater students about being a professional puppeteer.
9. CyberBullying Presentation by City Police January 15th The city police will give a presentation on cyberbullying and what can be done about it and how to minimize the effects.
10. Schedule Information Night- February 15th Staff members will be presenting information about the electives available to 7th and 8th grade students, in addition to information about honors and AP classes. Mrs. Chavez will be there to translate for Spanish speaking parents.
11. Poetry Slam with Michael Guinn-Thursday April 12th We will have our annual poetry slam. Michael Guinn, a professional poet, will be our Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
